Q: What is check-in time?
A:
4:00 p.m. mountain standard time. Check out time is 11 a.m.

Q: What are the Time Zones?
A:
Arizona does not participate in daylight savings. During daylight savings the state of Utah and the
Navajo Nation are one hour later than our time at the Grand Canyon. In non-daylight savings months,
Arizona, Utah and the Navajo Nation are on the same time.

Q: Can I drive in the National Park?
A:
Yes, The East Rim Drive through the park is Arizona State Highway 64, a scenic 2 lane road that
follows the contour of the rim. You can see into the canyon from a portion of the drive and there are
numerous viewpoints where you can park.

Q: Is the Sky Walk near the hotel?
A:
No. The Sky Walk is not accessible from the South Rim. It is near the western border of the state
(70 miles north of Kingman, Arizona) and has a separate entrance fee from the Grand Canyon National
Park.

Q: Are there restaurants near the hotel?
A:
There are restaurants within walking distance of the hotel including full-service menus and fast food
like the Grand Canyon Wendy's™.

Q: Where is the best place to see the sunset?
A:
The west rim drive is very popular at sunset. During the summer this area is closed to private
vehicles but canyon shuttles operate on a continuous loop. Canyon shuttles also go to Yaki Point,
another exceptional location to see the sunset.

Q: Is the park open year round?
A:
Yes! The Grand Canyon National Park is never closed.

Q: How far is the Holiday Inn from the park?
A:
The hotel is 1½ miles from the south rim entrance station. It is approximately 3 miles from the
entrance station to the rim and the East Rim Drive is over 30 miles long.

Q: How far in advance do I have to schedule an airtour?
A:
Airtours are almost always available for booking on the morning that you intend to fly. The front
desk staff can assist you with making your reservation when you arrive at the hotel.

Q: What is the elevation of the Grand Canyon?
A:
The Holiday Inn is at approximately 6,500 feet elevation. The canyon is one mile deep to the river in
the inner gorge.

Q: How much does it snow in the winter?
A:
The north rim is closed in the winter due to snow. Snowfall varies on the south rim but rarely
accumulates to significant depth. The Arizona Department of Transportation and the National Park
Service keep the roads clear for travel although there are occasional closures.
